This mountain heights had become the second highest before finally performed repeated measurements using SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission), revealed that Puncak Mandala beside him turned out higher than 10 meters.

Still in Papua, Puncak Trikora (Wilhemina Peak) can be found east of the Sudirman Range. Just like Puncak Mandala, one of the highest peaks in Papua was once covered by snow, but since 1962, no longer visible in the snow solid standing as high as 4,750 meters, Puncak Trikora could be considered as the second highest mountain in Indonesia after the Puncak Jaya. However, data from SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) shows that the peak Trikora less high than its neighbors, Puncak Mandala.

They managed to create new paths to climbing lane Puncak Trikora through (direct climbing).

Trikora expedition to the summit of the 4,750 meter altitude above sea level was done six members Mapala Trikora UI climb to the summit by way of climbing it was first done. Previously, climbers reach the summit Trikora using the normal path, "said Agi, greeting Fandhi, who acted as chairman of the expedition team, Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at the Secretariat Mapala UI, building Pusgiwa, Depok, West Java.

In order to achieve peak Trikora, the team used a technique of climbing the Himalayas. "How this is done for reasons safer and better ensure success," said Agi, who had twice to Puncak Trikora and six times to the summit of Carstensz Pyramid.

In engineering the Himalayas, climbing is done in stages, which can take several days. Once the teams reach a certain height, they would return to the camp for a break and resumed the next day. Gradually this inland fragmented and produce islands and mountains in Papua as we know it today.

There are still many secrets Jayawijaya rocks that are untapped and there are still many who have never climbed the highest peak in Indonesia. So you choose which one? So the researchers rock climbers accomplished or famous? Both can be done in Jayawijaya Mountains.

Jayawijaya mountains are also the only mountains and mountain in Indonesia has peaks covered by eternal snow. Although not all of the cluster of Jayawijaya Mountains peak that has snow. Snow owned by some of the top even when it has been lost due to changes in global weather.

According to geological theory, originally the world only has a continent called Pangea at 250 million years ago. Continent Pangea split into two to form the continents Laurasia and the Eurasian continent. Eurasian continent broke back into the continent Gonwana which would later become the mainland of South America, Africa, India, and Australia.

At the peak of the highest mountain in Indonesia, snow was spread. The altitude that reaches 4,884 dapl make any lasting snow covered mountain peak in Papua. The snow at the top Jayawijaya is one of the unique natural phenomenon, because natural ice usually does not go down along the equator. If viewed from the air, Puncak Jayawijaya like tapestry covered with white hood. If the sun is bright, the snow will reflect sunlight glare but still awesome.
